Tree moving

Wichtelstein Daycare Center Neumarkt

Space to play

Large trees are much more than just a visual asset to our surroundings. They provide shade, improve the microclimate, and offer valuable habitats for numerous animal species. In Neumarkt, we had the opportunity to contribute to the creation of the Burg Wichtelstein daycare centre, which opened in December 2024. Thanks to our experience in tree moving, a well-conceived greening strategy, and close cooperation with the city administration, the daycare centre's outdoor area was transformed into a green oasis.
Seven maple trees for a sustainable future

A key component of the project was the moving of seven stately maple trees. "We deliberately chose this tree species because it is not only robust and low-maintenance, but also makes a valuable contribution to biodiversity. In autumn, the trees are also impressive with their vibrant colours – a natural eye-catcher for children and adults alike," says Mr Worthmann from the City of Neumarkt.
Working together for seamless implementation
The tree move was a logistical challenge that was carried out safely and efficiently through close cooperation with Lutz Worthmann from the Environmental Office and the dedicated staff of the municipal building yard.
More than just shade.

In addition to their practical function as natural sun protection, the newly planted trees contribute significantly to improving the cityscape and the microclimate. Lord Mayor Markus Ochsenkühn put it aptly:

"The new kindergarten not only offers a space for many children to play, but also improves the microclimate and enriches our cityscape through the maple trees."
