Two linden trees relocated
The rapid transit project in Gothenburg continues.
The Swedish city of Gothenburg is facing a strained traffic situation.
Of the 1.02 million people in the Greater Gothenburg area, 450,000 live outside the city. A good 175,000 commuters put a strain on the metropolitan area's transport routes every day, the majority of them by private car. An improved rapid transit network would significantly ease the situation.
In June 2020, two more linden trees were relocated for the construction of the railway tunnel in the centre of Gothenburg. The tree moving method was used here as well.
The ultimate goal of the project is to significantly reduce travel times on Gothenburg's public transport network. We are still involved and helping out!
Giant trees make way for a new railway line in Gothenburg. Three huge trees were relocated for a new tunnel under the Swedish city of Gothenburg. The largest specimen weighed 186 tons and floated across the night sky on a 70 m² platform. The Västlänken (West Link) tunnel is a railway project for local and regional trains.
