60 Years of Opitz
For nearly 60 years, we have been passionately dedicated to moving healthy, mature trees. The high success rate following a tree move speaks for our services and our 360-degree approach. Based on extensive expertise and decades of experience, our know-how is divided into three service pillars: Tree moving – Aftercare – Maintenance. Only when these aspects are optimally fulfilled can you, as our client, benefit fully from healthy and sustainable greenery.
Tree moving using our proprietary OPTIMAL tree spades is undoubtedly the fastest and most gentle method for professional relocation. We analyse both the tree's environment and project-specific conditions to ensure a tailored approach.
We can also safely move even the largest trees using our specialised methods. Every successful move requires intensive aftercare, which is crucial for the tree's establishment—ensuring it thrives. A rehabilitation zone is created around the relocated tree to ensure continued nutrient supply and development. The root ball is excavated and the roots are trimmed. Optionally, a variety of growth promoters and soil improvement products, tailored to the specific tree and site, are added.
Afterwards, a watering ring is created, the tree pit is covered with organic mulch or planted as desired, and trunk protection is installed to shield the tree from weather conditions. Tree support is installed for stability. The crown is also thinned proportionally to the reduced root system to support optimal establishment. Finally, the root ball is watered in thoroughly.
Subsequent maintenance, particularly in the first three to five years after the move, includes regular watering and monitoring. Opitz provides this maintenance service with our own team and specialised watering vehicles. The intensity of the watering depends on climatic conditions as well as the size and location of the tree, ranging from 200 to 1,000 litres per watering session.
Regular checks of the tree support system, inspections for pest infestation, and clearing vegetation from the tree pit are essential. Should any problems arise or questions regarding site improvement come up, we are here to provide help and advice. Before final handover, we perform finishing tasks such as removing the tree support, corrective tree pruning, and loosening the soil in the tree pit.
With our experience across all areas of tree moving, you benefit from a sustainable and long-lasting tree population that offers quality of life and environmental protection in urban spaces for future generations.
